I sat there staring at the water, the ebbing and flowing of waves , the gentle way it kisses the shore lines and recedes ,almost as if uncertain by its boldness,
It’s an exceptionally bright day ,the smell of the salt ,the spray on your skin the sun at its centre making the water shimmer wave after wave , hypnotising those who linger long enough to get mesmerised
I was in such a state when he sat down next to me on the sand ,snapping me out of my reprieve long enough to glance at him and turn my attention back to the waves
I felt his gaze on me as he settled releasing a quick breath he looked towards the waves
“Penny for your thoughts “, he asked after a few beats of silence ,he has a nice voice scruffy and gentle ,
“you know scientifically speaking” I start “those of us who love moving water are said to be suffering depression or something so tragically enormous that looking out in to this vastness of the ocean and everything beyond your control is actually soothing , it’s kind off an equivalent to staring up at stars and thinking how insignificantly small you are” I glance at him “in a good way, because in retrospect your problems are even smaller and that makes almost everything so much more bearable“
I love this, it’s so true.

Great writing! I know the beach was so relaxing for me. When I just sat by it at night and watched it, it just sometimes puts your whole life into perspective for sure.

Thank you 🤗 that is true sometimes the world can be so noisy and chaotic, when ever I take the time to get lost in either the ocean or Stars it always leaves me feeling peaceful. I treasure that feeling
